Tower crane hoist chain on a Worli high-rise snapped during concrete bucket lift. Running dry for weeks — maintenance used engine oil that flung off within hours. Link plates worn past tolerance. Chain replacement: ₹80,000-2,00,000. Crane downtime: 3-5 days. Every trade stalled.
1. Tack (adhesion): Polymer tackifiers make it cling — stretches between surfaces instead of dripping off.
2. Penetration: Low viscosity at application seeps into pin-bushing gaps by capillary action. Tackifiers hold it there.
3. Water displacement: Pushes water off metal surfaces rather than mixing with it.
Don't use: Engine oil (flings off), grease (too thick to penetrate), waste oil (contaminants), WD-40 (solvent — evaporates, leaves chain drier).
| Equipment | Why Chain Oil Specifically |
|---|---|
| Tower crane hoist chain | High speed + heavy load + outdoor |
| Construction elevator chain | Continuous, vertical run |
| Batching plant conveyor | Dust + water contamination |
| Mobile equipment drive chain | Vibration + speed = fling-off |
| Industrial roller chain | Precision clearances |
| Bucket elevator chain | Dusty, vertical, continuous |
| Pack Size | Best For |
|---|---|
| 5 litre can | Single crane monthly |
| 20 litre can | 2-3 cranes or conveyor |
| 50 litre drum | Large site |
| 210 litre barrel | Industrial plant |
No minimum order. First order prepaid.
Apply to the inside of the chain (pin-bushing side), not outside. Oil enters by capillary action. Apply during slow-speed warm-up run so oil works into every link.
Reapplication: weekly for outdoor cranes, daily for dusty conveyors.
Same-day dispatch for orders placed before 2 PM. Mumbai: evening delivery. Navi Mumbai / Thane: next morning. Pune / Nashik: 2-3 days.
Q: Can I use regular oil on tower crane chain?
Not recommended. Flings off at operating speed. Chain oil has tackifiers that keep it on the chain.
Q: How often oil tower crane hoist chain?
Weekly for outdoor cranes. Daily during dusty conditions or monsoon. Apply to pin-bushing side during warm-up.
Q: Chain oil vs chain grease?
Oil penetrates into pin-bushing clearances where wear happens. Grease is too thick — sits outside collecting dust. Oil is correct for roller chains.
Q: My chain is noisy. Lubrication problem?
Often yes. Properly lubricated chain runs quieter. If noise persists after oiling, check sprockets, chain stretch, or misalignment.
Q: Available in spray cans?
We supply bulk (5L-210L). For spray use, pour into pump sprayer. Aerosol cans cost 10-20x per litre.
Supplied to tower crane operators and industrial plants across MMR.
