Frequently Asked Questions
What is the difference between UTTO and hydraulic oil?
UTTO is combined fluid for hydraulics + transmission + wet brakes in single-sump machines. Hydraulic oil is single-purpose. Using hydraulic oil in a UTTO machine causes wet brake failure.
Can I use UTTO in my Tata Hitachi excavator?
No. Tata Hitachi has separate reservoirs. Use hydraulic oil in hydraulic tank, gear oil in transmission. UTTO is for combined-sump backhoe loaders.
How often change UTTO in JCB 3DX?
JCB spec: 1000 hours. Dusty sites: 750–800 hours. Check colour weekly — dark brown with metallic sheen means change immediately.
JCB brakes spongy after oil change?
Air in brake circuit. Bleed wet brakes per JCB procedure. If still soft after bleeding, verify you used UTTO, not regular hydraulic oil.
Can I mix UTTO with hydraulic oil?
Small top-ups under 10% are okay short-term. Larger mixing dilutes friction modifiers — brakes lose stopping power. Drain and refill at next service.
